Marvel/G4 Combine For Anime Superheroes

G4 has announced that it will be the home for four brand-new anime series from Marvel, animated by respected animation studio Madhouse and masterminded by Warren Ellis, beginning next year. The series – Iron Man, X-Men, Wolverine and Blade – are being described by the channel as featuring “a matrix of interlinked storylines and shared guest characters that further enhance this intellectual roller coaster ride,” with each series bringing its characters to Japan for various reasons.

Commenting on the announcement, Marvel’s head of television, Jeph Loeb, said,

Bringing Marvel and our characters to G4 is such an awesome opportunity. The size and scope of the animation from top-flight studios Madhouse and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan is nothing short of mind-blowing. We look forward to the start of a beautiful friendship and can’t wait to see the reaction from our worldwide fan-base.

The four series will launch next year.

Trying to Be Optimistic About a Google Music-Streaming System

The Wall Street Journal’s Amir Efrati and Ethan Smith are reporting that Google is working on a consumer-electronics system designed to stream music–and, eventually, maybe video and other media–around the home. Their story doesn’t have much in the way of detail, but does say that Google’s brainchild might be akin to a lower-cost version of Sonos’s excellent-but-pricey music-streaming products. Absent more details, there are several ways to respond to this sketchy bit of news.
