Welcome to ‘Zombie of the Week,’ folks, where each week we’ll present you with a different brain-eating member of the undead that has captured our fancy. There is no methodology to our Zombie Awesomeness meter, just our own piqued interests. Got a zombie we should see? Comment below. No zombie is too small, too short-lived, or too gross.

We couldn’t be more excited for AMC’s The Walking Dead. Yesterday, a conversation about the spot on casting decisions by director Frank Darabont and producer Gale Anne Hurd fueled me to line up the live-action characters to their comic counterparts. Based on appearance and the brief glimpse of zombie paradise seen at this year’s Comic-Con, I’m giving an enthusiastic thumbs up to AMC’s casting. If and when AMC ever gets around to releasing a trailer, I promise to do a screen shot/panel comparison. (When I spoke to Greg Nicotero, the show’s head of make up special effects, he told me they even focused in on certain panels in order to really bring Kirkman’s series to the screen.) Bring on October.
