The good news is that Motorola’s Droid for Verizon Wireless will receive its Android 2.2 update this week; the bad news is that the tethering and mobile hotspot features won’t be coming with it. Our friends at Phone Scoop were contacted by Verizon Wireless spokesperson Brenday Raney who said in an e-mail that the “Droid by Motorola doesn’t have [the] hardware to support a Mobile Hotspot. With tethering there is no Connection on the PC side that will allow you to tether the device so the answer is that option isn’t part of this update.” On the flipside, 2.2 will add Flash 10.1, improved camera performance and a handful of other useful features to the Droid.
