How To: Upgrade Your Droid To Froyo Now!

The wait for Froyo is now over, Droid owner. Follow these simple steps to upgrade if you haven’t already received a notification to update OTA.

Step 1. Download this file and rename it “update.zip”

Step 2. Copy the zip file to your Droid’s microSD card.

Step 3. Power down your Droid.

Step 4. While pressing the “x” button, power on your Droid.

Step 5. When the exclamation point image comes up, press the camera key and volume up key at the same time.

Step 6. Select “apply sdcard:update.zip” using the D-pad and press the gold button.

Step 7. Enjoy your Froyo.

@jpc12345 I haven’t been trolling the xda forums lately so I’m not sure what the status is for the Streak. This update will only work for the Droid.

When I push the Volume Up button and the Camera (gold) button at the same time, nothing seems to happen, it just stays on the screen with the Yellow exclamation point…

Am I supposed to hold the buttons down longer or something? I’ve tried it 3 different times, no luck. Can we get a teeny bit more detail on that part?

lol, nevermind, i got it to work finally. It worked the 4th time…. this time, I left the slide-out keyboard OPEN when pushing the Volume Up and Camera button, and it worked fine. Before, I was shutting the slide-out keyboard before pressing them.
