No No No: Terminator To Return As PG-13 Animated Movie

Terminator Salvation may have failed to satisfy hardcore fans and stalled at the box office, but I’m not sure that’s any excuse to consign the franchise to PG-13 CGI animated movie hell. Hannover House and Red Bear Entertainment have announced Terminator 3000, an animated continuation of James Cameron’s dystopian robot movie series that’ll be made up entirely of CGI animation. With a budget of around $70 million – For comparison, Toy Story 3 cost $200 million, Shrek Forever After $165 million and Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs $100 million – the plan is apparently to aim for a PG-13 rating to widen the potential audience as much as possible, so don’t expect for anything too complex or violent… but maybe there’ll be a cute kid Terminator sidekick in there for merchandising potential, if we’re lucky.

Production is penciled in for a January 2011 start.
