Metroid: Other M‘s being hatched between Nintendo’s internal development team and the Team Ninja studio, who are best known for the Ninja Gaiden games on the Xbox platform. I saw and played the new title at GDC, where I learned that series heroine Samus Aran would be speaking in a game for the first time.
Nintendo’s released a new trailer where Samus talks about her video game life story, describing events from the very first NES game to Super Metroid to the one coming out in a few short weeks. Depending on how well-versed you are in Metroid lore, this will either be a introduction or trip down memory lane. The soundtracks for various early Metroid games sets the mood nicely, to the point where I got chills listening to the ominous tones of the NES Metroid game.
Metroid: Other M hits shelves on August 31 and, thanks to this clip, you’ll have all the info you need to grok the impending drama.
