6-Minute Preview of Google TV

Any doubts you may have about Google TV could be wiped away after watching this 6-minute demo of the upcoming service. It jumps between live TV, the DVR and the Internet without a hitch. Most notable, though, is the Google Queue, which by all accounts is a unified menu for any recording you may have – audio and video. Check it out.

Here’s a handful of interesting tech stories from around the web for Thursday, May 24.

I was really unimpressed when they came upon the Tron Legacy trailer on Youtube. A regular Youtube page? Why not have it go full-screen automatically? I’d really like to see Google develop an OS that specifically supports larger screens. Most traditional websites have too many details for a large TV like that. I’d like to see something a little more simplistic and intuitive.

Even before that…a KEYBOARD as the main access to my TV? are you kidding?

TiVo’s new UI takes a big step in the opposite direction, pivoting on metadata, sort of like IMDB does: you’re on your favorite TV show already, and it lists the actors who are in it.

Say you’re watching Chuck. You navigate with arrow buttons to Adam Baldwin (who plays Casey) and select. Then it shows you what else he’s in coming up in the next few weeks on TV, what he’s in that’s available on netflix (if you’ve activated your TiVo for it) AND what he’s in that’s available to rent or buy via Amazon on Demand.

So you could, say, go rent Serenity in HD or buy FireFly episodes in HD.

The Apple TV has this same “pivot” UI, but it’s limited to what’s available on the iTunes Store.

VUDU uses the same kind of UI.

And have you watched the original Google TV video? They spend the first 60 seconds talking to you about how frustrating your existing TV experience is…BUT THEY FAIL TO MENTION THE ADVENT OF THE DVR.

Stuff like “you’re out to dinner, but the game’s about to start and you’re going to miss it”.

HUH?

You can tell that you’re really grasping for an excuse to exist when you have to pretend that someone else doesn’t.

First no one is doubtful about the quality of Google Tv as android is now considered the finest OS But the video was beautifully edited and it delivered the message nicely. people around the globe are now least concerned about hardware brand name, as the matter of fact now its more about apps, OS & features. Google Tv is surely a revolutionary android device. I am using it from last 3 months and it is a real enjoyment, it is manufactured by a HOng Kong based android devices manufacturing comapny called OZitechnology. Android based products including Google TV device would dominate the market.
