You have to hand it to Stan Lee and Boom! Studios: Their latest promotion for their new line of superhero books has managed to make buying the books seem like part of a much nobler quest to keep superheroes alive. Watch for yourself:

It’s that part at the end that gets me. “This is an opportunity for you to introduce a whole new generation to the magic of superheroes. But you got to join me – I can’t do it without you!” Really, Stan? This is about introducing a whole new generation to superheroes? I would’ve thought that movies and cartoons were doing a pretty good job of that already, but dammit if there’s not something oddly stirring about being called into action by the man partially responsible for reinvigorating the whole genre almost half a century ago…
