Apple Said To Be Readying 99 Cent iTunes Rentals, Sept. 7 Event

We’ve heard this before, haven’t we?

Bloomberg is reporting that Apple is in “advanced talks” with News Corp. and others (Disney, CBS) to bring 99-cent TV show rentals to iTunes. The Fox deal will supposedly give renters a 48-hour window to consume rentals. One of Bloomy’s sources also said Apple plans to introduce a new iPod Touch with a retina display and a $99 Apple TV.

We’ve definitely heard this before.

Whether or not any of this is true will be revealed next month when Apple holds their annual iPod/iTunes event in San Francisco on September 7, the supposed event date.

I agree that Netflix pricing is the best, but their streaming selection is still pretty limited even though they constantly tell me they are expanding. Also, I have to wait until at least the DVD comes out before I can stream most TV shows, so I prefer to convert or rip DVD movies with iFunia DVD ripper pro to my MAC and enjoy on the go.

$.99 is overpriced, but it does give a pretty unique service for the price.
