Clearly, it’d take something pretty impressive to team Steven Spielberg, Fringe co-creators (and Star Trek and Transformers screenwriters) Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles showrunner Josh Friedman on a new project. And, apparently, Joe Hill’s IDW horror/fantasy comic Locke & Key is that something.

The critically-acclaimed comic, which debuted in 2008, centers around the dysfunctional Locke family, who inherit a New England mansion filled with mysterious, mystical doors that offer superpowers, entrance into other dimensions or other equally unlikely events. New York Magazine’s Vulture blog is reporting that Spielberg, Kurtzman, Orci and Friedman will collaborate to Locke & Key into a television series, with Friedman on board as writer and producer. No network has signed on for the series, yet, but the show will be a co-production between Spielberg’s Dreamworks TV and 20th Century Fox, where Kurtzman and Orci have a development deal.
