Time Capsule: Hamill/Ford Talk Star Wars Prequels In 1980

Look! Proof that the prequel trilogy wasn’t a late George Lucas cash-in (Jump to 1:27 of the first clip)!

Oh, Harrison Ford, with your dry “It gets real confusing after awhile, doesn’t it?” and picking your nose on live television. Also, young Jane Pauley is an oddly awkward, flirty interviewer, isn’t she?

Well, I do remember this interview when it aired (ok, so, I was 20 at the time — old nerd alert!)

So for all of you young Techlanders out there who grew up with the internet and hundreds of cable channels, you can imagine that in 1980, we young geeks only had extremely limited info sources for our fix (Starlog Magazine and SF conventions were my main sources).

This sort of interview was, in 1980, like manna from heaven for us. And if you were lucky enough to own a VCR at the time, you were very popular amongst your nerd-friends (I didn’t have one myself).

This time period was when all SF, and geeky stuff in general, went mainstream and became ‘cool’ to the mundanes, as we used to call non-geeky types.

    Enjoy …

Love the $5 movie comment. And of course back then $5 was considered expensive. :)
