Amazon’s Download-to-Keep TV Shows From ABC and FOX Now 99 Cents

In light of Apple’s recent Apple TV announcement, Amazon has made the price of download-to-keep “hit shows from ABC and FOX” just 99 cents per episode. You’ll recall that Apple TV will offer streaming, per-episode rentals from ABC and FOX for 99 cents, but you don’t get to keep them.

It’ll be interesting to see if this is just a loss-leader for Amazon or if the company keeps these shows at 99 cents (that’s for either standard- or high-definition episodes, too) for the foreseeable future.

That’s hilarious timing. Apple must be thrilled.

I switched over to Amazon exclusively for MP3 downloads, and haven’t looked back. They’ve done a great job designing that system to integrate with iTunes, so I’m guessing they did a good job with Amazon TV…although I’m not sure what it will integrate with. VLC?

I’m a little surprised Apple didn’t strong arm ABC and Fox into holding off on inking a deal with Amazon so soon.
