Call of Duty Drafts Oscar-Winning Talent for Black Ops

Activision’s newest time-spanning military FPS just got a booster shot of highly-qualified nerd cred. The guy who helped write the best Batman movie ever along with the men who played Commisoner Gordon and Carl Fogarty (the creepy antagonist from A History of Violence, a film which was–may we remind you–adapted from a graphic novel) will all be part of Treyarch’s inbound Call of Duty: Black Ops.  Screenwriter David Goyer is on board as a script and story consultant and actors Gary Oldman and Ed Harris will be playing servicemen in the shadowy world of secret military intiatives.

Oldman’s no stranger to the COD franchise, and will be reprising his role as the Russian sniper Viktor Reznov. That character fought in the forces trying to repel the Germans during World War II in the 2008 game Call of Duty: World at War. Harris is new to the series and will be playing one of Black Ops‘ lead characters, CIA operative Jason Hudson.  It’s not clear if Harris will be voicing the main player-controlled character, but Black Ops marks the first time that the dude players will be controlling has a voice.

It’ll be interesting to see if the game feels more cinematic when Call of Duty: Black Ops hits on November 9th.
