Here’s a sign that the movie version of Red might be pretty good: director Robert Schwentke has already been snatched up to direct RIPD, one of Ryan Reynolds’ many upcoming geek-friendly projects. Adapted from the Dark Horse comic of the same name, RIPD features Reynolds as a cop killed in the line of duty before being given the chance to join a police department staffed by similarly deceased policemen and women and track down his killer. Reynolds will shoot the movie, written by Clash of The Titans writers Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi after the in-production The Change Up and Safe House; it’s not certain where Green Lantern 2 (or the rumored 3) falls in this timeline.

Red is released next month.
