There could be a Halo movie… but it’s not really a priority

People were buzzing about Variety’s article in which it mentions that Microsoft is looking to make a Halo movie. The games story line is awesome so I think it would make a great movie — if put in the right hands. So, how close is Microsoft to making a deal?

It seems it’s not really a priority. There aren’t any partners lined or even discussions for potential plans, even though Microsoft is open to the idea.

“We’re glad there’s still a lot of enthusiasm in the entertainment industry surrounding the idea of a ‘Halo’ movie,” Microsoft told Techland in an emailed statement. “That said, the ‘Halo’ feature film remains on hold until we find a partner that shares our passion and will creatively collaborate with us to best represent the story and spirit of the ‘Halo’ franchise. Right now our focus is on the upcoming launch of ‘Halo: Reach.’”

Script Details for Ghost Rider 2 Leaked and We Care, Kind Of
Comic Book Movie translated the Italian site Comicus, who got a hold of the script. Nicolas Cage is returning (eh…), it’s going to be directed by the people responsible for Crank (eh…) and will be based around a story by David S. Goyer (Now this we can get behind. He came up with the story for Batman Begins.)

Translation courtesy of Google, so pardon the weird English:

Johnny Blaze found years after the events of the first film, self-exiled from the world. In this way, hopefully, not having contact with people, able to control the spirit of Vengeance. Blaze is approached by Moreau, a monaco quite unusual part of the monastic order of Michael, the warrior angel. The Monaco but needs the special talents of former stuntman to trace a woman named Nadya and her son Danny, who must be protected at all costs, as there is on his trail Roarke, who is none other than an old knowledge of our hero (you certainly understand who they are) and is interested in the guy for a particular reason.

On the plus side: Cage did Lord of War and Leaving Las Vegas, and Crank was enjoyable. On the negative: Cage did The Wicker Man, and Crank 2 was not as good as the first one. The tiebreaker will be how well the story is adapted: It can change everything.
