Your Quick Guide To September TV Season Premieres

SEPTEMBER 28
SGU: Stargate Universe (Syfy)
Yes, it may feel like Lost crossed with Battlestar Galactica, but if that doesn’t seem like a great idea to you, then I heartily suggest you re-read that sentence and try again. Okay, I’m joking, but only slightly: For my money, SGU ended up a happy surprise in its first season, fulfilling its promise and not wearing out its welcome by taking the easy route out in terms of storyline or characters. I’m hoping for more of the same, but moreso, this time out.

No Ordinary Family (ABC)
Michael Chiklis heads up this drama about an all-American family that just so happens to have superpowers. The Incredibles or Fantastic Four, anyone…? Still, maybe we should keep the snark in check and watch – It’s co-created by Greg Berlanti, co-writer of next year’s much-anticipated Green Lantern movie.

In case you’re wondering… The much-beleaguered Caprica returns in January, and The Walking Dead is October. Just in case you were thinking there were a couple of shows missing in that line-up…

I’m already so behind on TV shows. I’m halfway through Season 3 of “Lost” and no farther along than that on “Friday Night Lights.”

While I did indeed grow up as a child of the ‘TV generation’, after reading your post, I found myself asking this question: when was it that it became ok to pay to watch quality television? It seems to me that all of the good TV shows that have smart story lines, and consistently good writing are all on cable now (ie Breaking Bad, Battlestar, Leverage…) While I do appreciate your fall round up, I have always been of the opinion that TV, much like Radio, should not be paid for.

Wait Leverage isn’t coming back? Oh no…and what’s up with Chuck & Fringe? Can you tell me that? Don’t make me nervous? Thanks for sharing…

Is it really bad that I already told everyone I know NOT to call me on thursday because of Vampire Diaries? I believe the words were, “I dont care if you are bleeding, having a baby, getting married and on your death bed. Get a band aid, cross your legs, postpone it and dont go into the light.”

Dude can’t wait for Vamp Diaries. It’s such a blood bursting sitcom. Not gay like Twilight.

That and SUPERNATURAL! I have no idea what’s in store for supernatural, but it better be freaking awesome.

I thought last year was gunna be the Greek Mythology year. But the movies sucked. They should’ve made a more awesome sitcom.

Gossip Girl Season 4, too! This coming Sep. 13!

I haven’t watched Venture Bros in a long while, and I always need to catch a series in the beginning if I’m going to follow it. It’s just too confusing if I hop into it in the middle of it or several episodes in. I’ll have to check some of the new stuff out.
