Two years ago, EA’s EA Partners division announced a collaboration with Grasshopper Manufacture, the development studio headed up by Goichi Suda, better known as Suda 51. Suda 51–famous for doing some of his earliest interviews in a luchadore mask–is best known for idiosyncratic clut favorites like Killer 7 on the GameCube and No More Heroes for the Wii.

Now, the fruits of his collaboration with EA are coming to light at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. Shadows of the Damned looks to be a horror-action game with a strong streak of neo-grindhouse stylization running through it. Resident Evil 4 director Shinji Mikami’s also working on the title, and you can see the over-the-shoulder camera from RE4 making an appearance in the trailer. The game’s hero–Garcia Hotspur–travels to hell to retrieve the soul of his girlfriend and apparently gets to wield all sorts of hellish spins on human firearms. Looks quite greasy and promising, no?
