Miracle Park Will Revolutionize Superhero Movies By Setting Them In Scotland, Or Something

Details about Kick-Ass and Wanted creator Mark Millar’s next movie – and directorial debut – have finally been released after months of teases, and… it sounds more than a little underwhelming, to be honest. The movie, Miracle Park, isn’t just the first movie that Millar is directing, but his first not based upon a pre-existing comic (Or, at least, a pre-existing comic written by Mark Millar, considering that it’s described as “The X-Men meets Trainspotting”).

For those familiar with Millar, a lot of the hyperbole in the Miracle Park description has been heard before, whether it’s the claim that the movie “breaks all the taboos of superhero cinema and offers a completely new take on the genre” or that it offers “a totally new experience in cinema [that] starts where other superhero movies draw the line.” The plot doesn’t really sound as groundbreaking as the movie claims to be:

Set in contemporary Scotland, this dark, unique superhero story focuses on a group of animal rights activists who break into a low-level research laboratory to find a mile-long underground base owned and facilitated by the US government.

Yes, shadowy US government projects will create superheroes even in Scotland. Who knew?
