Some people really don’t know how to say goodbye. After following up the finale of Battlestar Galactica by directing underwhelming spin-off TV movie Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, now Edward James Olmos wants to write a sequel to the series as a graphic novel.

Talking to reporters on a conference call for Hispanic Heritage Month, Olmos said,

I’m going to go there. I’m going to go there in a graphic novel. Pretty soon I hope. I don’t know. It just depends on whether people can get behind it and understand it for what it is. I think people will… I think people would really flip out to know what Lee Adama is doing on the planet, what the chief is doing on the planet and what is the colonel doing on the planet and how is the planet treating us and how are we treating the planet? How are we getting along, the human development that we were inside of the human development that we see today. That’s pretty heavy.

Olmos said that he is currently looking for an artist for the story, although help may be at hand there: I asked Dynamite Entertainment, which holds the BSG comic license, for comment about Olmos’ plans, and was told, “Upon hearing of Mr. Olmos’ creative interest in telling the continuing story of Adama, we immediately reached out to see how we could fit that vision into our own Battlestar Galactica publishing plans.”
