It’s Official: THQ and Guillermo del Torro will be making video games together.

Del Torro told MTV that players should be expecting his first game in 2013. Each one of his games with THQ has a three-year development deadline so don’t rush to get in line yet.Why the wait? He promises they’ll be “huge games, huge world creation and long deadlines.” He initially pitched a game that was called Sundown, which was too similar to Left 4 Dead in 2006 – which he admitted he “adores.” (“In the household, it’s considered a family game,” he said. “My two daughters are my wingmen.”)

That was scrapped, so he’ll be working on another game that is guaranteed to scare your bones. He elaborated:

“It’s horror…but it’s a very different type of horror game. It’s not survival horror. It’s truly a strange, geeky mix. It’s a Lovecraftian thing. Let’s leave it at that.”

The official announcement should come soon. Are you curious to see what creatures come out of Guillermo del Torro’s mind and into your video game?
