Wet Hot American Backwash
Techland found out that Michael Ian Black, star of Stella and Wet Hot American Summer, will be joining comedy veterans Joshua Malina (Sports Night, The West Wing) and Michael Panes (Easy to Assemble) for his next project. Crackle.com will host their online web series Backwash, which will debut on November 15. The show revolves about the adventures of three friends, who travel around in an ice cream truck after one of them accidentally robs $100,000 from a bank while wielding a large salami (no sexual puns intended).
If you’re not familiar with the three protagonists, stay tuned for the other stars who include John Stamos, Allison Janney, Sarah Silverman, John Cho and – my personal favorite –Mad Men’s John Hamm. Everything that Michael Ian Black has stared in has been wacky and nonsensical, and judging from the fact that this web show is supposed to be an “animated, surrealist humor, (with some) song and dance,” we’re sure Backwash will live up to our high expectations.
Ryan Reynolds Feels Gangly Doing Green Lantern Stunts
Ryan Reynold’s latest movie Buried has the actor moving very little in a tiny cramped space. That’s the complete opposite of the other movie he was filming at the same time, The Green Lantern. He joked that he had a hard time maneuvering around at his size.
“For Green Lantern, I’ve spent five months doing gymnastics,” Reynolds told Techland at a press conference for Buried. “When you’re 6’2” that’s something that shouldn’t be done!”
Although it might have been physically taxing, it seems that Reynold loved filming the Green Lantern role. He said the fact that he could do two different movies – Buried, an independent psychological thriller and The Green Lantern, his blockbuster superhero movie – is something that Reynolds hopes to continue to do for years to come. “I didn’t have meteoric success so it really allowed me to have an outside perspective,” he said. “I’m glad I got to do Buried and Green Lantern in the same year, and I’ll continue to do so – if they’ll let me.”
