Why Would NBC Waste Two Great Talents On The Munsters?

What happens when two creators whose work you admire team up for a project that sounds, at best, like an ill-considered idea? I’m about to find out, with the news that Pushing Daisies‘ Bryan Fuller may be rebooting The Munsters for NBC, with Guillermo del Toro taking some kind of behind the scenes position on the series. Now, I loved Pushing Daisies – and before that, both Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me – but just the high concept pitch of “Modern Family meets True Blood” makes me very nervous about the show, even if del Toro ends up producing or, by some wonderful twist of scheduling, directing. Is it that wrong that I’d rather see the two collaborating on something all-new, instead of trying to remake a show that, let’s be honest, was never as good as The Addams Family to begin with?

    Oh for crying out loud…

Y’know, this is why I don’t watch broadcast TV any more.

Have you seen I Spy recently? It’s remarkably good.

Oh brother. I thought NBC was supposed to get better under the leadership of Comcast, not worse. I don’t see any scenario where this show can make it as a remake. Honestly, I never liked it as reruns when I was a kid (if I had to watch I preferred The Addams Family). Besides, who is running NBC now? This is the kind of crap NBC put out under Zuckerberg’s watch.

Munsters sucks. Addams Family rocks. Pushing Daisies rocks more. The end.

Scrape the bottom of that barrel! Must have more reboots!
