Sprint is hoping to make installing apps on new Android phones a more streamlined experience with Sprint ID. The basic premise is pretty simple: the company has created several "packs" of similar applications—Entertainment, Socially Connected, Health and Fitness, Business Productivity, Sports, etc.—which users can download in one fell swoop instead of one app at a time.
The "Socially Connected" ID pack, for instance, contains Facebook, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Mashable, Tweetcaster, YouTube, and a few other Android apps. Users can load up to five ID packs, and all packs are available for free.
Sprint ID is currently only available on three recently-announced handsets, though: the Sanyo Zio, LG Optimus S, and Samsung Transform—pictured in the above photo from left to right.
The Sanyo Zio will be available October 10 for $100 and features a 3.5-inch touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera, and Android 2.1. The LG Optimus S will be available October 31 for $50 and features a 3.2-inch touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera, and Android 2.2.
The Samsung Transform will be available October 10 for $150 and features a 3.5-inch touchscreen, full QWERTY keyboard, 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera, VGA front-facing camera, and Android 2.1.
