While rumors are still flying about that Ridley Scott’s Alien prequels may be in trouble due to a falling out between director and studio, that hasn’t stopped an equal amount of rumor-mongering about who will take the lead role in the movies. Deadline is reporting that Scott and 20th Century Fox execs have met with a number of actresses about the movie, and that The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo‘s Noomi Rapace is at the top of a list that also includes Carey Mulligan and Abbie Cornish for the as-yet-unnamed role.
If true, then it’ll be Rapace’s second high-profile English-speaking role; she’s also signed on to co-star in the sequel to last year’s Sherlock Holmes, which will begin production next year – a fact that may cause trouble with the Aliens prequels, depending on how quickly Fox wants to make them happen.
