In an attempt to convince everyone that there is a new Duke Nukem game coming out, Gearbox’s marketeer Steve Gibson announced today that the demo for Duke Nukem Forever will be available to everyone.
Yes, you read that right. You don’t have to buy Borderlands: Game of the Year to get the code for the demo next year, although it will still be included. You don’t have to line up or win a prize. You just have to want to play Duke Nukem Forever, which is probably the majority of people out there.
“We want people to know that, ‘Holy crap, they’re actually making plans!’” Gibson said to Digital Spy. (He should be worried. The game is 13 years in the making. Take a look at the pre-order receipt we posted: It’s from 2001.)
If you’re still a skeptic like me, he added a couple details about how serious they are, including that the demo is different that what was revealed at PAX and other press events. “(The developers) are making concrete plans, they’re are putting stuff in a box already with Duke’s face on it. It’s actually like a certificate, and you’ll see that it’s like ‘In Duke We Trust’. It’s fun. We’re thrilled to death,” he promised.
And, if you still aren’t convinced, Gibson announced that the multiplayer version of the game is going to be revealed at a press event “coming soon” – which, in reference to this game, can mean any time in the next century.
