V’s Alien Invasion Shrinks By A Third

Looks like ABC’s alien invasion may have a speedy resolution after all. The second season of revival SF drama V has been trimmed by three episodes, going from 13 to 10 before it’s even started airing, according to Deadline Hollywood. The series will return in January 2011 in the Wednesday 9pm slot currently filled by Dancing With The Stars‘ result show, but there are only 12 weeks between seasons of the reality contest, and two of those slots are already expected to be pre-empted for other broadcasts, leading to the reduced 10 episode season. The show is still in production, so rewrites should make for a smooth shortening, but this doesn’t look like a good sign for the long term prospects of the series.
