Amazon Kindle App Coming to Windows Phone 7 Devices

Amazon has announced that its Kindle software will be available for Windows Phone 7 handsets “later this year.” No exact availability date is mentioned in the company’s press release, though Amazon contends that the free app “will be the first major eBook application available for Windows Phone 7.”

Kindle for Windows Phone 7 will sport a couple features not currently available in other versions of the app; namely, personalized book recommendations on the home screen, and the ability to suggest books to friends “from any book in your library without leaving the app.”

Microsoft’s Brandon Watson previewed the app as part of the keynote for the 2010 Professional Developers Conference held at Microsoft’s campus today and tomorrow. It can be seen in this video at about the 01:05:50 mark.
