Everybody’s favorite undead ninja* stars in the latest promo clip for the upcoming reboot of the gory fighting game. It’s important to note just how stunning and detailed the characters and background in the video look. This appears to be gameplay footage and if it is, the team at the Netherrealm dev studio have not been idle since they rose from the ashes of the late Midway Games.

The 2D action shows off some new moves for Sub-Zero’s mortal enemy (that sword slash looks new, at least) and harkens back to the series’ glory days with familiar-looking backdrops, too. The new Mortal Kombat brings the pain to PS3 and Xbox 360 early next year.
