The space issue with Kinect is no different than the space issue with the WII - the very concept dictates that you need a decent size living room to use the device. Its no different than buying a 50" TV and putting it in a room where you are sitting 3 feet from the TV. Are you going to get a good experience - NO - so you don't buy that size. If you live in a small apartment, then no the Kinect not going to work for you - the device can't be all things to all people - so to complain about the space issue is a little pointless. Lighting - most people have curtains or blinds in their room - close the blinds - you don't have an issue. With that said, the device is neat and has lots of potential and I have enjoyed it. I think people have to manage their expectations when a product first comes out. As long as Microsoft and its developers continue to take the time, money and resources to develop the device - it will be remarkable. Should you buy it now, early adopters yes - those who want to see more substantive games - just wait a little. As with any technology - the good usually always tend to get better.

I have a Kinect and the only problem I have with it is space in my room so it works best with only one player playing it because I have such a small space, but I would suggest a big play space for Kinect when more than one person is playing or else you will find that you are bumping elbows with the person next to you if you don't.

I also live in a tiny apartment in the city and so I'm concerned about where to make space for the Kinect. And thanks for the info on light sources - didn't know that it would be that much of an issue. Definitely something to take into consideration when I try to shape our living space around the Kinect.

I'm getting a Kinect only because my daughter wants one. Personally, I'm not really enthusiastic about it because the game line-up still seems shallow. Wonder how long it would take before we got some titles that offer more than just "cuteness."

Most of the concerns that will keep me from buying kinect are summed up in this article pretty well. I still want to give it a try, but wouldnt gamble any money towards doing so. My biggest problem is not only do the games all look shallow, over priced and boil down to minigames, but the technology really dosnt look like its ever capable of doing more than those types of games.

On top of all that I know I dont have the space to clear out, and hate the thought of spending time managing light sources to fine tune the tech. Really I was convinced to never buy one after seeing the kinect adventures game being played at e3. The response of the characters on screen to the rigid movements of the people playing was painful to watch. Everyone was saying "look how awesome this is!" and all I saw was a game that consisted of simple d pad presses translated into awkward generic body movements.
