Can “Call of Duty: Black Ops” Outsell “Modern Warfare 2”?

Activision had a lot of expectations to live up to due to their previous Call of Duty release, Modern Warfare 2. The first person shooter received a 94 percent on Metacritic and has sold over 20 million copies to date. Now that the next installment, Call of Duty: Black Ops, is upon us, the wait is finally over.

The new game takes things back to the Cold War era, which means ballistic knives and crossbows – and yes, it comes with explosive ammunition. (Also, apparently you might get to lob a few molotov cocktails.) The multiplayer mode will stay, so for those of you who like to show off your skills you’ll be able to continue to do so. Plus, they’re bringing back the online split screen from Call of Duty 3 for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

While they aren’t expecting it to outsell MW2, they’re estimating they’ll be able to move about 13 million units. Admit it, were you one of the people lining up at midnight for this game? Who called in sick to play today? And check back for our full review of the game early next week.
