Here’s a good reason to be thankful that they didn’t have the internet when you were a kid: You would have probably known the end of The Empire Strikes Back two years before the movie came out.
Retroist has a newspaper cutting from 1978 that reveals that David Prowse, the body of Darth Vader, told fans that Darth was actually Luke Skywalker’s dad a year after the original movie came out – which means that either he knew what George Lucas was planning all along (contradicting the oft-told story that Prowse was told on the set of Empire that Obi-Wan was Luke’s father, to prevent him from blabbing to the press) or that he had a very lucky guess… although he was very wrong about Luke and Darth meeting again in a fourth Star Wars movie, sadly.
