J.K. Rowling: No More Harry Potter Books

GETTY

Daniel Radcliffe told MTV News that he’s officially done with playing Harry Potter. The boy wizard actor says J.K. Rowling texted him saying he’ll never have to play the titular character again.

“Basically, it amounted to the fact that she felt I had been very good in this ‘Harry Potter’ film, and as a reward for that, she wasn’t going to [write] any more ‘Harry Potter’ [books],” Radcliffe said. She did tell Oprah that the possibility is still open, however, a few months back.

So who did she tell the truth to: Radcliffe or Oprah? Can not tell Oprah the truth and get away with it? Evidence shows that she tends to get mad when people lie to her. While the epilogue was completely unnecessary, the series was neatly wrapped up so there really is no need for more books. Or, do you think there is room for more material?

Never read any of them, despite having read a lot in the genre. Glancing through, did not see anything that hasn’t been done better by others.

My daughter’s 8, and when she gets to them, I’ll read then.

Well, Lois McMaster Bujold just came out with a new Miles Vorkosigan novel, so I’m sticking with the old Beatles-reunion rule. As long as they’re still alive …

Just because she is not writing Harry Potter books does not mean she has to abandon Hogwarts and the rest of the wizarding world. There is a whole load she can write about the history of Hogwarts, and stories with many other characters.

Seems reasonable. She created quite the dynasty with the the books. @harrymonmouth – I agree! It’d be neat to see something like Harry Potter, perhaps a new story with new characters.

I think it’s fair to say no more Harry Potter books, but I think there could definitely be books about the wizarding world with different characters. She created such a complex world, there’s definitely things that could still be explored.

I would like to see more defictionalized texts from the Wizarding World, like “Quidditch Through The Ages” or “Tales of Beedle the Bard”. There’s no need for movie adaptations of those sorts of books, so Radcliffe would be safe.
