Whether you think he’s the world’s greatest director or not, there is a legion of fanboys out there who love to hate on Michael Bay. On one hand, he’s made millions and can pretty much guarantee a summer blockbuster. Still, many die-hard fans of the original source material pick apart his movies for their illogical plot holes, poor casting choices and migraine-inducing rapid fire editing. Without an official trailer yet, Transformers: Dark of the Moon is already garnering much hatred online – specifically focusing on the fact that some claim the movie is being converted into 3D, a controversial choice for most directors since, well, it’s never turned out looking good.

Last Friday, IESB reported that a source told them there was problems on the 3D conversion front, adding that Transformers was not going to be the next Avatar and Bay really does not know how to shoot in 3D. Key line from the insider: “”The 3-D looks like sh*t and we don’t know if we will be able to use all of it the way it is.” Ouch.

Without pointing names, it seems Bay has gotten wind of this post – and many other like it – and is not pleased. A post under his official account on his official website forums, Shoot For the Edit, says that the reports are completely false, calling the alleged rumor mongers “morons on the internet.” There’s not going to be that much 2D conversion, if any conversion at all, because the whole film was shot in 3D he claims. Bay post said:

Wow, I read these morons on the internet who think they are in the know. “We have have problems with our 3D????” Really? Come into my edit room and I will show you beautiful 3D. There has never been a live action show that has pushed the boundaries of 3D like Transformers 3. We shot the entire movie with 3D cameras. I actually loved shooting in 3D. I will give full details of my process and why I liked 3D in the next week right before the Transformers announcement piece comes out on Tron and Narnia.

He added in a subsequent post, “And don’t watch it in 2D, we made it for 3D.”

Seems like it is the man himself since he’s made several official statements on this account – and it is his message board. Moral of the story: Michael Bay has no problem blowing things up – on or off the screen.
