Interview: Warren Spector Talks “Epic Mickey”

It’s probably no surprise that the man who’s orchestrated Mickey Mouse’s grand return to the video game stage is an animation buff of massive proportions. But, in the interview that follows, Warren Spector lets slip that the iconic mouse isn’t even his favorite Disney character. On the eve of the release of Disney Epic Mickey, the creative director of the Junction Point development studio sat down with Time to talk about the origins of the project on the eve of the release of Disney Epic Mickey.

Spector met with us at the brand-new Disney store in Manhattan’s Times Square and discussed the research that fueled the game’s interactive version of Mickey. He also revealed changes that happened during the design process and which Disney characters he’d love to tackle for his next video game project.
