AMC’s The Walking Dead will wrap up its first season this Sunday and in honor of the finale we have a little treat for you.

Best known for directing a pair of critically-acclaimed prison movies based on Stephen King stories — The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption — Frank Darabont is the man behind the runaway AMC hit zombie show The Walking Dead. Director of the show’s knockout pilot and co-writer of each subsequent episode, Darabont’s imprint is all over the gory show. He spoke to TIME’s Gilbert Cruz about the films that have most influenced his work, from the obvious (Night of the Living Dead and The Exorcist) to the less so (It’s a Wonderful Life). Check out the video of that interview above.

The Walking Dead has already been signed for a second season, so expect much more from Darabont to come.
