I've had ATT for a while and not had any issues; when my bill was late I would always pay and it was fine. However, this last time I was a few days late after paying a $217 bill, my service was cancelled. Their notification was of course through my phone voice mail which I could not access since the service was disconnected. When I called their support, they said I would have to pay them a $300 deposit up front. In addition I still owe them $65 and also will have to pay a $90 early termination fee...I said no to the deposit and will go elsewhere. If this is how they treat their longtime paying customers, then that's not who I want to do business with. Sorry but I'll go with prepaid somewhere else.

I have AT&T and a Blackberry Bold. I live out in the middle of nowhere and AT&T are really the only choice I have in my area.

I have never had any trouble with them. I get 3G speed in the sticks and have NEVER had a dropped called due to lack of signal strength.

I'll agree that their phone selection is awful, but I have absolutely zero complaints about their service. A+ from me.

I was a AT&T customer for +10 years & how do they treat us...... so so in some words. I got the unlimeted data plan before they got scared with apple new iphone 4 & all the apps like netflixs being on the new mobile. I was told twice that if I got the unlimeted data plan I'd have no problem upgrading to a smart phone & I'll be able to keep the unlimeted plan. So when the time was right to upgrade, I tired to get a new smart phone but they told me that I wouldn't keep my old unlimeted data plan because it was for a older Sony Ericsson W580i & that the plan was not for a smart phone. What made me choose to discontinue with years of service was the fact that I was lied to not once but twice & that AT&T is hinding from their partership with Apple. In my opinion as long as Apple is trying to keep the share of the market with new apps that will slow down the data speed AT&T will keep hinding & the restriction will keep them at the bottem of the mobile service.

I find it funny that they claim to be faster & better, but if your users can't use the service, then speed is irrelevant. It's like saying a car can drive 1000mph, but only when it works.

We're 100% better than our competitors, but only when our service works.

AT&T Get my point?

Poor 'I-Phone' users, crappy phone (buy a $300 phone and have to wrap a rubberband around it to make or receive calls) and a crappy network (ranked #1 as the worst U.S network per 58,000 people). It will be amazing to see if the 'I-Phone' works beter on 'Verizon' when they can sell them. Either way, the 'I-Phone' is being overtaken by the Droid!

It's not that AT&T is a bad provider, its just that they haven't updated their selection enough to compete with the changing trends in the market.

The iPhone was a great phone when it was introduced as a premiere smartphone. However recent trends have leaned towards the progression of the Android.

Currently having a great phone that supports the Android is key to sales. Unfortunately AT&T currently does not have any "decent" alternative in terms of Android phones.

I was an AT&T customer for years and even waited hoping they would change their hardware and get a good droid phone. However I got tired of waiting and switched carriers.

Both Sprint's HTC EVO 4g, and Verizon's Droid X can beat any phone AT&T has to offer. That is why they are gaining customers while AT&T is loosing them. People are converting from iPhone to Droid, and AT&T needs to catch up if they want to stay in the race.

Even when I canceled my AT&T service the tech asked why, and I explained this problem. But they didn't seem to care, or think it made a difference. In fact, I pointed out from a technical standpoint why their phones are lacking. I hope consumer reports such as this will wake them up to seriously consider this as a flaw in their current marketing strategy.

This makes me glad to be on Verizon. The iPhone gets all the blame for AT&T's poor network performance but I think that all of the traffic brought to Verizon through Android has made the point that the real problem is AT&T. When Verizon gets the iPhone it will be nice to see the network survive the wat that AT&T's hasn't.

I agree with 'thebonafortuna'. AT&T network was glutted with the addition of the 'I-Phone'. Myself, a cell-phone is just that, a phone. I don't mind the 'cameras' but if I need the web I'll use my laptop! Myself I think the 'I-Phone' has ruined the AT&T network. The same might happen with 'Verizon' once they introduce the 'crApple' phone to thier network!!

As a long time user of AT&T, I experienced a dramatic drop off in quality when I moved from an old school candy bar Sony Ericsson phone (with no data plan, just voice and text) to an Android phone (with the accompanying data plan).

Suddenly, after 5+ years of satisfactory service and zero dropped calls, things have gotten noticeably worse. It's not constant, and usually not a big deal, but I'm getting at minimum 1-2 dropped calls each week.

I used to blame the fact that AT&T is the sole network bearing the brunt of all those iPhones out there - which are constantly using data - being responsible for slower data services. But the relatively constant dropping of calls has me wondering what's going on, when my old phone never had these issues.

Satisfaction level dropping.
