“Infinity Blade” to Get Free Content Update, New Enemy

Chair Entertainment’s hit action-RPG has notched upwards of 250,000 sales on the App Store (at least according to Game Center user count), making it one of the best-selling games on the iOS platform. And now, Epic Games is rolling out new content for a free update tomorrow with new gear for loot-hungry player to earn:

– Gamers can collect and master 5 new Swords, 5 new Shields, 1 new set of Armor, and 5 new Helmets, including the Santa-themed “Holiday Helm!”

– Maximum Character Level raised from 40 to 45!

– New Enemy Revealed – The MARROW FIEND! This creature is rumored to devour its victims, taking their bones for its blade and shield.

-Purchase Gold! Due to popular demand, we have added the ability to buy extra Gold via in-app purchase!
– Gamers can now listen to their own music while playing INFINITY BLADE!

– Optimizations and minor Bug fixes.

While the raised level cap and the fresh accoutrements are fun additions, it’s the in-game gold purchasing that will be a game-changer. Not only does it let players access pricier good in quicker fashion (without being tethered to the grind), it’s also provides a nother revenue stream for Infinity Blade. Epic Games exec Mark Rein has promised more free updates in 2011, so hack-and-slash addicts should have enough to keep them busy deep into the new year.
