At last week’s Consumer Electronics Show, e-readers were still a venerable showcase, and manufactures were out in full force to show off upcoming devices. Though big names like Kindle and Nook still rule the e-reader market, convergence devices (i.e. tablets) featuring snazzy e-reader apps are biting at the industry’s heels. While big brands battle it out for the top spots, we’re seeing smaller companies release more niche devices, marketed to specific groups: cooks, students, etc.
We waded through the competition and found five new e-readers we’re excited for in 2011:
