Depression-Fighting Earbuds Shine Light Into Your Brain

Light box therapy has long been the way of treating those with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). But a new development from the Finnish company Valkee could make treatment for SAD as simple as wearing earbuds for 8-12 minutes per day.

Finnish researchers have found that it’s not the eyes that need the light, but the brain, so transferring light through the ears is actually a more efficient way of activating  photo-sensitive areas of gray matter that lift your mood.

So while these earbuds may look like something you’d plug into your mp3 player, they attach to one little black box full of light and, well, happiness.
