You would think that if you were going to use one of the most famous video game franchises as part of the main plot in one of your episodes – a cult game that inspired a movie that topped international box offices – you would check with someone who actually played the game to see if what you wrote was right, lest you offend some gamers.
NBC’s Life, a cop/detective drama that ended after two seasons last year, apparently failed to do that, and the results show that the writers are probably clueless about gaming but wanted to tap into something “cool.” Reddit users have rediscovered this gem, and, well, there’s some key problems. The episode in question is 2007’s “A Civil War,” which is about a hate crime that turns out to be motivated by drug dealings, and one of the drug dealers decides to hack into Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones to hide the evidence of his wrongdoing. Yeah, we’re not buying it either.
