Experian Buys Social Media Company

Experian, the international credit information company, is branching out into social media. The company has purchased a majority stake in British social marketing tools company Techlightenment.

Techlightenment, founded in 2007, provides social media services to clients including Skype, Facebook, Universal Pictures and GlaxoSmithKline. Experian’s acquisition was described in the official press release as “a further step in Experian’s strategy to grow its digital marketing activities [and expand] Experian’s presence in the online, email and mobile channels.”

Terms of the deal were not made public. The company will become part of Experian UK.
