It’s the future—today! If you like printing stuff, that is. And only Google stuff. Otherwise, yes, it’s the future. You’ll need a fancy smartphone with an HTML5-capable web browser and you’ll need to connect your printer to an always-connected Windows computer running a beta version of Google’s Chrome web browser. Once that’s all taken care of, though—the future!

The Google Cloud Print feature is still rolling out but if you haven’t already, you should eventually notice that the drop-down menus in the mobile web versions of Gmail and Google Docs feature a “Print” option.

You can connect to multiple printers provided you set them up first, and Google says it’s even working on printer sharing tools that will allow you to share your printer with others and print to other people’s printers.
