Now Bumping Phones Will Tell Users Where To Eat

Thanks to a new partnership between startups WHERE and Bump, finding new places to try out will be as easy as tapping phones. And, no, that’s not a euphemism.

Bump’s technology – which allows users to share data between mobile devices when tapped together – may be familiar to you; it’s already being used by companies like PayPal and HootSuite. WHERE, however, may be new; it’s a recommendation engine that offers up potential places to go to eat, visit, etc., based on your own tastes that is dynamically updated depending on your location and a “serendipity” element that will suggest locations that might not exactly fit your profile, but have been calculated to match your tastes.

The partnership between the two companies will allow users to share recommendations, even if they are not “friends” within the program. Android and iPhone versions of the app are currently available.
