Cracking Code Can Get You a Job (Maybe)

In this kind of job market, it’s important to impress potential employers with whatever skills you have that set yourself apart from the rest of the pack. Like, for example, your ability to deep-dive into code on WordPress sites.

Over at the Slowcop blog, they’ve discovered an unusual “Help Wanted” message hidden online:

I was running some tests on gigaom, and I came across the following HTTP header while examining a CSS file:

X-hacker: If you’re reading this, you should visit automattic.com/jobs and apply to join the fun, mention this header

One of the core qualities listed on that site for future employees? “Curiosity and the desire to learn.” Any curiosity that leads to discovering secret messages is the kind of curiosity people need more of, I think.

This is a classic easter-egg! I first saw this when Tellme (now part of Microsoft), did this around Y2k.
