Last night at the 2011 Game Developers Conference, EA and its DICE development studio unveiled a look at Battlefield 3, the newest installment of the blockbuster open-world military FPS series.
Powered by an all-new Frostbite 2 engine, the threequel looks to be EA’s big bet on dethroning the shooter hegemony that Activision’s achieved with the dominance of their Call of Duty games. The first trailer shows a glimpse of the street battles and close-quarters gunplay that the game will offer. I’ll have an interview with DICE executive producer up soon.
