More details are emerging about YouTube’s celebrity channels, including just how much the company is looking to pay for the premium content. Spoiler: It’s probably more than you’d expect.

Advertising Age is reporting that sources put the figure around $4,000 per minute for the premium content, with overall deals said to be between $2 million and $5 million. One of the most interesting things from the AdAge piece is the idea that YouTube is trying to walk a thin line between paying for the production of content against paying for the content itself, traditionally a Google no-no. It’s been something they’ve been able to do with smaller content producers, offering funding and coupons for filmmakers to purchase equipment, but can the same paradigm really work with Hollywood professionals?

Officially, the company is saying that all conversations have been exploratory in nature, and no deals have been announced as yet.
