Google Adds Connection Bar For iPhones

For those of us who’ve had the frustrating experience of trying to use Gmail on iPhone Safari, some small measure of relief is at hand: Google has introduced a connection bar that’ll let you know just how (un)successful your emailing attempts have been.

The connection bar launches when you launch Gmail in Safari, appearing at the bottom of the screen to update users on various statuses – Whether there is internet connection, whether emails have been successfully sent, and so on. Better yet, the bar disappears when not in use, so what little screen space you have to read your emails remains all email.

The bar is available now for iOS4 users. Everyone else, it’s probably just better to add your Gmail account to the iPhone email function for now. Or upgrade your iPhone.
