HP Pavilion 14-inch Core i5 notebook: $550 at Office Depot
Here’s what I like about this notebook: It’s only $550 and it sports an Intel Core i5 processor and it’s housed in brushed aluminum and it only weighs 4.4 pounds even though it’s got a 14-inch screen and a DVD burner. That’s about it, though. Oh and it has a fingerprint reader and 6+ hour battery life. And four gigabytes of RAM.
I don’t like that you have to send away for a $50 rebate. Nobody likes mail-in rebates. So for me, this computer costs $600. For anyone who’s the least bit organized, it costs $550 plus postage to send out the rebate form.
