Google’s April Font Gag

Of all the April Fools stories clogging up the internet today – and there are very, very many – my favorite is certainly one of Google’s. No, not that one. Another one.

I won’t spoil the surprise, I’ll just tell you how to find it. Go to Google, and search for “helvetica”.

If you’re a typeography nerd (or the kind of person who knows when to say “typeface” and when to say “font”) you’ll appreciate the joke. Even if you’re not a typeface nerd, but you know what Helvetica is and why it’s better than – well, than some other typefaces – you’ll still appreciate the joke.

If you do the search and don’t notice anything unusual, I’d suggest forget all about the whole thing and move right along.
