Fring Brings Four-Way Video Chat to iPhone, Android

While Apple’s Facetime languishes with no new features, and Google’s Android continues to lack a native video chat app, Fring has gone ahead and added four-way video calls to its iPhone and Android apps.

The app is free for iOS and Android, as are video and voice calls to other Fring users. Fring makes its money by selling a FringOut voice service to landlines and other phone numbers. The addition of four-way video chat makes Fring the first company to offer group conference calls across smartphone platforms. Calls are supported over Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G.

I haven’t tried the app out, so I can’t tell whether this video of hipsters having a live remote jam session is legit, but it’s better than nothing either way. Just don’t try to panhandle like they do. Not cool.
